Every day, bus drivers, paraeducators, secretaries, custodians, cooks, security guards, health and library technicians, playground supervisors and many other unsung heroes help our schools and students to succeed. They are important members of the team!
PSE has partnered with Washington State Employees Credit Union and regional radio stations — STAR 101.5 FM Seattle, 92.9 ZZU FM Spokane and 100.9 Cherry FM Yakima — to honor Washington schools’ support staff.

Kelly Carr always goes that extra mile to help all students. He is always at the sports events with that smile and a willingness to do whatever. For example, last month Colville High School was competing at state volleyball (took 1st place by the way) and the event ticket taker wouldn’t let our kids bring in their signs for our team. Mr. Carr went to talk them and returned with our signs. The kids cheered and we won the championship games. He loves his job, you can tell.

Shirley Woolem is small in stature but huge in heart. She is pretty much the “golden rule” with feet. She treats everyone with so much caring and where there is a need you can bet Shirley will find a way to meet it. She brings out the best in people through celebration, fun and a caring attitude that you can’t help but want to emulate. I can’t think of a better example for young and old to learn from.
