Scholarships

PSE is proud to assist educational support professionals and their dependents pursuing their educational goals. Each year, PSE awards direct financial aid to union members and their children.

2016 Member Scholarship

The PSE Member Scholarship provides financial assistance for members who wish to enhance their skills or pursue additional educational goals.

PSE will award two members a $1000 scholarship each and one member a $500 scholarship. The member must be in good standing and plan to enroll or attend school within a 12-month period, beginning June 2016.

The application deadline is March 1, 2016.

2016 Dependent Scholarship

The PSE Dependent Scholarship provides financial assistance after high school to dependents of PSE members, including grandchildren, interested in continuing their education.

PSE will award two dependents, including grandchildren, a $1,000 scholarship. Additionally, PSE will award one dependent, including grandchildren, a $500 scholarship . The dependent must be an IRS-dependent of a member in good standing. The applicant must also be a high school senior or equivalent and plans to enroll as a full-time student in an accredited institution by the fall term.

The application deadline is March 1, 2016.

SEIU Scholarships

Another option for PSE/SEIU 1948 members is to apply for SEIU International Scholarships. SEIU offers 50 scholarships through four different scholarship programs.

Applications for 2016-2017 are now available at seiu.org/scholarships and can be submitted online. The deadline for submissions is March 3, 2016. Winners are notified in late spring and announced on SEIU’s website.

General eligibility criteria:

  • Scholarships are open to SEIU members or their children.
  • Membership must be for one continuous year as of Sept. 1, 2016.
  • Scholarships will be awarded without regard to the sex, race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, age, or disability of any applicant.
  • All awards must be for the academic year(s) awarded.
  • Graduate students are not eligible.
  • Officers and employees of the International union and their children are not eligible.
  • Scholarship awards are limited to one per household.
