PSE is excited to announce the launch of a major visibility campaign promoting classified educational support professionals on the radio airwaves throughout Western Washington.
Beginning Oct. 5, PSE is partnering with
STAR 101.5 FM radio in Seattle to promote the "
School Star of the Week" program. STAR 101.5 FM is currently the top-rated FM station in Western Washington. Public School Employees of Washington will be prominently featured in all advertising as the primary sponsor of the program.
During the week, STAR 101.5 radio personality Kent Phillips will promote the campaign with several public service announcements (listen to the PSA's by clicking here: 10-sec spot | 30-sec spot | 60-second spot). Each Thursday morning for the next 15 weeks, STAR morning DJs Kent & Alan will announce the week's winner on the air between 9-10 a.m.
All classified public school employees are eligible to be nominated for the School Star award, including those employees not represented by PSE. However, we strongly encourage PSE members and leaders to help "stuff the ballot box" with nominations of our members each week to increase the chances that our members will be recognized for excellence on the job.
PSE has no role in the selection process.
Each weekly winner will receive the following prizes:
$100 check from PSE;
A plaque from Trophies2go; and a
$56 gift card good for 8 entrees from Qdoba Mexican Grill.
In addition, the student, co-worker, parent or administrator who nominates each weekly winner will also receive a $32 gift card from Qdoba.
The School Star of the Week program is being funded primarily through the $1 per month special dues assessment approved by delegates earlier this year.
Please note the STAR 101.5 radio signal can be heard throughout much of Western Washington. PSE is working with the radio station and with advertising executives in order to bring the School Star program to radio stations in Eastern Washington.
Local PSE chapters are encouraged to apply for Public Relations grants in order to bring the School Star of the Week program to a radio station near them!
