How many stories will it take to convince our legislators that we need health insurance reform. I have a co-worker who is forced to take the WEA Plan 5 because her son has physical disabilities that need constant intervention. She is a para educator who works 6.25 hours per day. Last Thursday her husband was informed that he was getting laid off after working for many years for his employer. He got one day notice of his layoff. Now she must decide: If she puts her husband on her policy, her insurance premium will increase to $1,917.00 per month, resulting in take home pay of $166.00 for the entire month. Does she insure her husband or pay her mortgage and feed her children. This is not a decision that anyone should have to make. We need K-12 classified employee health insurance reform now!

I agree with Jaleit. I support all efforts made to reduce the outrageous cost we pay for health insurance premiums.

Doug, Thank you for your work on this, but I agree with you on what Randy Parr from the WEA said, my impression is he is basicly throwing the classified staff members under the bus. i.e. if it affects the WEA then we are not intrested in the rest of the people who work in the schools. I think there is a lesson to be learned here. Thank you

Doug, you were right on when we did our visits with our representatives prior to the special session. We knew that there would be some opposition and we had a jump on our opponents! Thanks!!!!
