The 2021 Legislative Session is quickly approaching, and it will be one for the history books! The session will be conducted entirely by videoconference, due to the ongoing pandemic.
This year’s Legislative “Un-Conference” is new and exciting. We will be offering 5 days of virtual sessions filled with guest presenters such as House Speaker Laurie Jinkins, House Education Committee Chair, Rep. Sharon Tomiko Santos, and Senate Education Committee Ranking Member, Sen. Brad Hawkins.
There are will also be many opportunities to participate in virtual discussion groups where you can share questions and ideas with fellow union members on a range of legislative topics. And, as always, there will be some time to informally connect with fellow members in a more relaxed setting.
- Dates: The majority of the Un-Conference sessions will be held on Saturday, January 9. However, there will be some additional sessions during the evenings of January 5, 6, 7 & 8.
- Times: Weeknight sessions will begin at 6:30 pm. The Saturday event will be from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm with plenty of time between sessions and a lunch break.
- Cost: Free! (All we ask is that Members pre-register so we can provide you with information and links to all the sessions.)
- Location: The comfort of your own home!

This entire event will be held remotely via Zoom videoconference. Zoom is a free video conference platform. It’s easy to use and free! When we send out the links to the virtual sessions for the event, you will simply click to join. Clicking on the link will automatically open Zoom so you can join the meeting. It’s best if you have a webcam so you can see everyone and be seen, but it’s not necessary. You just need to download the app onto your computer or smart phone to get started: https://zoom.us/download
