2017 Convention Welcome Letter

I’m excited to be going back to the great city of Kennewick, WA. As a courtesy PSE is providing a list of resources to make your stay more enjoyable during down time. Please visit the Explore Kennewick page for more details.

This year’s theme is We Own It, which is a reminder of our commitment to the collective work we will do at convention. We come as a group of over 600 classified educational professionals to celebrate and make key decisions that will lead PSE into the future. Part of our effort to continue building the organization is in educating the membership through Leadership Training Expo (LTE) which begins on Thursday afternoon.

Your position as an elected delegate should not be taken lightly. We need you in the business sessions voting on by-laws that will affect our organization. The opportunity to volunteer next year, will be available in your zone caucus meetings so consider signing up to serve on a state committee. Details on the proposed bylaws for 2017 can be found on the “Proposed Bylaws” page.

The agenda for convention is not all business, there will also be opportunity to donate to Safe Harbor Support Center, an organization committed to the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Please visit the convention page for details on how you and/or your chapter can help.

We realize that the expense of attending convention can be challenging for some of our smaller chapters so we are offering the Betty Rankin Sponsorship Program to those chapters that received less than $650 in chapter rebates. If your chapter doesn’t need help, then please consider donating online to help others have an opportunity to attend. For more information on the program please visit the Convention Sponsorship page.

I want to personally thank you for stepping up to participate in the decisions that will affect our Union’s future. I encourage you to work hard, have fun learn from other members so you can return to your local chapters charged and ready to move forward.
