Information about electing Convention delegates and alternates

Delegate Nomination and Election Forms will be mailed the first week of February. Remember, the notification of the chapter meeting where Convention delegates and alternates are elected must be received by chapter members at least 15 days prior to the meeting. PSE will pay for all costs related to this mailing and will provide postcards. The election postcard form must be completed and submitted to the state office no later than 30 days before your scheduled meeting. If there are questions, please contact Lenda Johnson by email or at (866) 820-5652, x7447.

Eligible Delegates:

All chapters are entitled to have two delegates no matter the size of the chapter. Chapters should elect alternates who can replace delegates. There are no proxy votes. The number of delegates your chapter is entitled to send is on the election form.

Nominations:

All members must have an equal opportunity to be nominated to serve as a Convention delegate.  Members do not have to be present to be nominated or elected. Every delegate and alternate, even state officers, zone directors, chapter presidents, life members or legislative council representatives must be nominated and elected.

Election of Delegates:

Chapter leaders need to determine how many delegates the chapter will pay expenses for to attend Convention and what expenses the chapter will pay.   This needs to be announced at the meeting and prior to the election. If additional members are elected, they may attend at their own expense. Example: “We are eligible to have six delegates attend Convention. We have determined to pay the expenses of four.”

Elections must be conducted by secret ballot.

Once you have conducted elections and are ready to register your delegates and alternates, please visit the registration page, which will be available in mid-April.
