Looking for a way to develop leadership skills?

Sign up for Gear Up! 2012 Leadership Conference.

Come to Olympia on Jan. 15 to 16 and participate in the first program to come out of PSE’s new Member Strength Department.

GEAR UP! will hold three workshops on Sunday afternoon. Local leaders like you will learn new skills to apply to bargaining, lobbying, election work, and other activities that will take place in 2012 and beyond:

  • Best practices in using new media & social media tools at the local level to inform and engage members.
  • Changing the face of our union through strong messaging techniques and stressing public interest themes.
  • Introducing key organizing strategies, including canvassing, workplace & home visits, and building new conversation assessment skills.

In addition, we are planning a fun, energetic rally on Monday morning to kick off PSE’s fight to win health insurance reform for school workers. We will also educate chapter leaders about all the resources available to you to help spread the word about our health insurance reform work. In short, you’ll get everything you need to inform, educate and engage members in conversations about changes to their insurance.

GEAR UP! meals will be shared with Political Assembly attendees. Most importantly, all members will be able to participate in the auction on Sunday night and raise funds for Emergency Relief.

Also, if you live on the east side of the state, charter buses are being arranged to transport members from Spokane/Moses Lake/Ellensburg and TriCities/Yakima. We will ask members to pay $15 to ride the bus. Please RSVP right away to save your seat on the bus!

The best part about GEAR UP! is there is NO COST if you register before Dec. 20! All expenses for GEAR UP! are being paid out of the dollar assessment that goes toward public relations and job-protection activities.

Yes, GEAR UP! is being held the same time as the Political Assembly and will be held at the same hotel. Yet, the mission of each event is unique and separate. Each group will have its own program. There will be times when we join together – including the live and silent auction on Sunday night where we can raise funds for Emergency Relief!
