Gregoire responds about CWU president’s salary

“…no state money is used to pay university president salaries in Washington State.  As directed by law (RCW 28B.35.120), the CWU Board of Trustees hires president and sets the position salary.  Funding for this is derived from the institution’s foundations and/or research grants.  Their philosophy is that, to attract high quality staff, salaries need to be competitive with peer institutions throughout the country.  If you would like to voice your concerns to the CWU Board of Trustees, I encourage you to contact them directly by visiting http://www.cwu.edu/~board/.

Thanks again for writing the Governor.  She appreciates the opportunity to answer your questions and address your important concerns.

Sincerely,

Constituent Services
Office of Governor Christine O. Gregoire”
